The recipient must have a mainland resident's ID Card or Travel Permit (Passport) for Hong Kong and Macau Residents and have authenticated their WeChat payment name.
Transfers to WeChat Pay are available for recipients between 18-65.
The recipient's name must match the name registered with Tencent. The recipient can create a recipient profile in the Wechat app and share the correct name and phone number with the sender first. Read the guide.
The match doesn't consider spaces, capitalization, or name order. For example, if the recipient's name is ZHANG TIAN XIA, and you input ZHANG TIANXIA or TIANXIA ZHANG or TIAN XIA ZHANG, then all are acceptable.

If the recipient has activated the fund-receiving service on Wechat Pay, they will receive an SMS notification, and at the same time, the funds will go straight in. The funds will go to the WeChat Pay balance or bank account according to the WeChat Pay payment settings.
Transaction limits to WeChat Pay:
- For transactions to bank accounts tied to a WeChat balance, a maximum of 50,000 CNY per transaction
- For transactions to a WeChat Pay balance, a maximum of 10,000 CNY per transaction
- The maximum transaction limit per beneficiary per year is 500,000 CNY
- The transaction limit per beneficiary per month is a maximum of 5 transactions
